Terry Hendrix

Terry Hendrix
Hewlett Packard

Terry HendrixTerry Hendrix is the Worldwide Director leading HP's Software Publishing Services (SPS) business. Although Terry joined SPS about 9 months ago, he has long been part of the outsourcing world.

Terry went to work for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in 1977. He started in the group that sold to governments, doing a mix of finance, marketing, and sales support. He stayed there for about five years, including time as manager of finance and planning, before becoming Finance manager of the DEC Computer Users Society. In the Users Society, Terry implemented new financial controls, solved problems, and spent lots of time with customers. Working with customers was the best part of the job and gave him the chance to collaborate with people from business, education, and government.

Terry's next assignment was in Customer Support for marketing and sales, where he helped develop new offerings and new ways of pricing. In 1989-90, he was part of the Kodak outsourcing deal, the first big outsourcing deal for DEC.

It was with the Kodak deal that Terry really became interested in outsourcing. Over the next several years, he took management positions throughout the outsourcing space, and was worldwide director of finance for outsourcing when DEC was acquired by Compaq in 1998. He was a worldwide director of finance and business management in Compaq at the time of the HP merger, and subsequently became director of finance for Managed Services Americas. And in the six months before joining SPS and BPO, he managed business development for mergers and acquisitions for Managed Services Americas.

Terry lives in Massachusetts, a few miles west of Boston. His daughter is 26 and his son is a senior at the Wentworth Institute of Technology. Terry holds an undergraduate degree in business management and liberal arts from Northeastern University. He also has a MBA from Babson College. A Vietnam veteran, Terry spent three years in the U.S. Army, including time studying German at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California.
